STEM ENSEMBLE

Wayne Elementary uses a STEM based approach to teach Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students are empowered in their learning. This empowerment takes them into the next generation of academics. Project-based learning is a big part of incorporating the STEM approach. This is a very fun and successful program in grades KG-5 where student achievement soars.

DRUM ENSEMBLE

Students in 4th and 5th grades have the opportunity to try out and join Wayne Elementary's Drum Ensemble. Mrs. Tadlock, our music teacher, works with this group of students after school once a week throughout the school year.

The students learn how to play drums in a harmonious way. They compete at Marshall University every Spring. The students will go on an end of the year trip and compete on a National level to wrap up the schoolyear. Mrs. Tadlock and the students do several community service projects throughout the year as well.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Wayne Elementary School offers many student leadership opportunities. Students can try out and participate in Ensemble and Drum Ensemble where they participate in community service projects, compete at a local level, perform at local events, and compete at a National level.

Wayne Elementary has a safety patrol program where students apply, interview, and then work to help keep the school safe and function smoothly in transitioning.

We have an elected student council, as well as an elected student leadership team. We promote student involvement and empowerment both inside and outside of the classrooms!
